Running MetaTrader 24/7 on a Forex VPS allows traders to keep the trading platform active without leaving a personal computer online. This setup is commonly used for Forex trading, chart monitoring, and automated trading systems that need a stable remote Windows environment.

A Forex VPS hosting server is designed to keep MetaTrader running continuously with remote access, stable uptime, and a Windows environment suitable for trading platforms.

Step 1: Connect to Your Forex VPS

Open Remote Desktop Connection on your Windows computer:

mstsc

Enter the VPS IP address, then log in using the username and password provided by your VPS provider.

Step 2: Install MetaTrader on the VPS

Install MetaTrader directly inside the Windows VPS, not on your local computer.

You can install either MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 depending on your broker and trading account.

If needed, follow the related setup guides:

Install MetaTrader 5 on a Windows VPS before keeping the platform running 24/7.

Step 3: Log In to Your Trading Account

Open MetaTrader and go to:

File → Login to Trade Account

Enter your trading account details:

  • Login ID
  • Password
  • Broker server

Click:

After login, confirm that prices are updating and the platform is connected to the broker server.

Step 4: Keep MetaTrader Open

To run MetaTrader 24/7, the platform must stay open inside the VPS session.

Do not close the MetaTrader window after logging in.

Also avoid closing charts or removing active trading tools that need to keep running.

Step 5: Disconnect from RDP Correctly

After MetaTrader is running, disconnect from Remote Desktop by closing the RDP window.

Close the Remote Desktop window

This disconnects your local computer from the VPS but keeps the Windows VPS and MetaTrader session running.

Do not click:

Sign out

Do not click:

Shut down

Signing out can close running desktop applications, and shutting down will stop the VPS completely.

Step 6: Check That MetaTrader Is Still Running

Reconnect to the VPS using Remote Desktop:

mstsc

If MetaTrader is still open and connected, the platform is running correctly on the VPS.

Check the bottom-right corner of MetaTrader to confirm that the broker connection is active.

Step 7: Keep the VPS Powered On

MetaTrader can run 24/7 only while the VPS itself is online.

Avoid restarting or shutting down the server unless maintenance is required.

If the VPS is restarted, open MetaTrader again and confirm that the trading account is connected.

Step 8: Monitor the Trading Platform Regularly

Even when MetaTrader runs on a Forex VPS, it should still be checked regularly.

Make sure the platform remains connected, charts are updating, and the trading account is active.

Running MetaTrader 24/7 on a Forex VPS gives traders a remote Windows environment that can stay online continuously without depending on a personal computer or local internet connection.
