Step 1: Update the System
Before installing Proton VPN, make sure your system is up to date to avoid package conflicts.
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
Step 2: Install Proton VPN Repository
To ensure you always get the latest and most secure version of Proton VPN, you need to add its official repository to your Ubuntu system before installation.
sudo wget -q -O - https://repo.protonvpn.com/debian/public_key.asc | sudo apt-key add -

Step 3: Install Proton VPN

Or connect to a specific country, for example:
protonvpn-cli connect --cc us
Step 6: Disconnect and Manage VPN
When you finish using Proton VPN, you can easily disconnect or check your current VPN status to manage your secure connection effectively.
protonvpn-cli disconnect
You can also check your connection status:
protonvpn-cli status
Step 7: Enable Auto-Connect (Optional)
To make your connection more convenient, you can enable Proton VPN to start and connect automatically each time you log in to your Ubuntu system.
protonvpn-cli configure
