MySQL is one of the most popular open-source relational databases, widely used in web applications and enterprise environments. Installing it on Windows Server 2025 is simple with the official MySQL Installer, which handles all dependencies automatically.

Step 1: Download the MySQL MSI Installer

  • On your Windows Server 2025 system, open your browser and go to the official MySQL downloads page.

  • Download the MySQL Installer for Windows (MSI)

  • Save the installer to your desktop or downloads folder.

Step 2: Run the Installer

  1. Right-click the downloaded file and select install.

  2. The setup wizard will open — click Next to begin.

  3. Accept the license terms and proceed.

  4. When asked for setup type, choose one of the following:

    • Typical – installs MySQL Server and basic tools.

    • Custom – lets you pick what to install.

    • Complete – installs everything, including documentation and development components.

  5. Click Install to start the installation process.

The installer will automatically download and install the required components. This may take a few minutes depending on your internet connection and system speed.

Step 3: Complete the Installation

After installation, a confirmation message will appear showing that MySQL has been successfully installed on your system.
Click Finish to exit the wizard.

You can now access MySQL using either the MySQL Command Line Client or MySQL Workbench if it was included during installation.

To verify your installation, open the Command Prompt and run:

mysql --version

If the command returns a version number, MySQL is successfully installed and ready to use.

MySQL is now installed and running on Windows Server 2025. You can start managing databases, users, and permissions directly from the command line or via graphical tools.
